Girls On Film

About Girls On Film: Hailing from the capital of Florida, GIRLS ON FILM are an all-female four-piece whose music is one part lipstick synth-pop and one part icy cold new wave. Their fashion fueled lyrics and high energy stage antics have earned them a reputation as one of the hottest new wave acts out of the Southeast.

Since their first release in 2003, the Love Robot EP, surrounding buzz has stirred attention for the band and led to television appearances, radio & internet play, and an in-demand stream of bookings and other appearances. They have played several prestigious music festivals, including the 2004 Jacksonville International Connexion Music Festival, Cincinnati's Midpoint Music Festival 2005, and NYC's M.E.A.N.Y. Fest 2005 and have shared the stage with the likes of legendary London rockers The Fixx, west coast new-wavers Glass Candy, MC Chris, The Bangs, VHS or Beta, The Start, Rasputina, MTVs Teck, and the Impotent Sea Snakes.

2005 saw the release of the full-length album Danceteria, which went into radio rotation on WVFS 89.7 FM, X101.5 FM, GULF 104.1 (Tallahassee, FL), WAIF 88.3 FM & WLHS 89.9 FM (Cincinnati, OH), WTKS 104.1 FM (Orlando, FL), WSCA 106.1 FM (Portsmouth, NH), KTOO-FM (Juneau, AK), 2RDJ FM (Australia), CKUM Radio J 93.5 (Moncton, Canada), and numerous internet radio stations.

An early 2006 tour took the Girls to venues in Atlanta, Charlotte, Baltimore, Chapel Hill, Nashville and New York City, where they headlined at the famous Knitting Factory Tap Bar and shot the video for the single "Vaporized" under the supervision of NY director Dino Reyes. After being tapped by Manhattan label 2Asides Records to lend tracks from Danceteria for expert remixes by some of the worlds top remix artists and DJs (such as Steve Porter, Hatiras, Thomas Penton, and Neil Kolo), edits from the resulting project Remix Reel immediately began charting on Release Promo Only. As the Girls' reputation grew, they continued to play a non-stop schedule of shows from Charlotte to Atlanta to Miami.

Despite the band's full performance schedule, travel, rehearsals, and busy personal lives in '06, the Girls managed to write nearly an album's worth of new material which was received by their audiences with enthusiastic demand for a second CD. The band began recording an EP due for release in early summer with plans to include the "Vaporized" video and other footage as a bonus on the new disk. Preparations are made for upcoming festival appearances and live concerts.
