Hudson Wera Anekeya

About Hudson Wera Anekeya: Hudson Were Anekeya was born in Western Kenya and raised under Abaluhya traditions. After leaving a stint in the army he pursued music in the form of one-man guitar and gospel performances. He released a gospel album with Papa Lefty in the late-90’s on cassette called “Kweli Yesu ni Bwana Wangu.” The album draws heavily from the popular Rumba, Reggae, and marching to glory gospel sounds of the time but the result is not a christian pop album but an experimental forging of all these elements into a pop album.
In 2002, on the heels of a nationwide political rally tour he and his band Wera Wera Soundsystem recorded 5 songs with Gearz K.
In 2004 and 2005, he came back to work with B.K.S.P. on the production of the album “Chaka Flame” and to polish up some old one-man guitar standards.
He then relocated to Japan and coalesced with the musical collaborative Mviringo touring extensively around Japan and the Phillipines. In 2007 the album “Nairobi Driver” was produced with Mviringo and released on CD in Japan by Groover Nation. The album is a fusion of classic african pop music, reggae and blues.
