Scott Watson

About Scott Watson: Scott Watson is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Teesside - an industrial area in the north east of England which is perhaps best known for where the Sydney Harbour Bridge was built and inspiring Aldous Huxley's novel Brave New World.

Scott was a member of My Beautiful Launderette which was one of the many exciting guitar bands coming out of the Manchester music scene in the mid 1990s. MBL gigged around the UK and supported bands including Half Man Half Biscuit, The Delgados, Solar Race and Marion. There was label interest from the likes of 4AD. Around this time BBC Radio One's Steve Lamacq described the band as having 'clever lyrics and neat flouncy pop tunes'. This is something that is still prevalent in Scott's solo material.

Scott describes his influences as being everyone from Abba to Zappa. He has an obsessive and encyclopaedic knowledge of music and there's a rich mix of pop, rock, folk, blues and punk running throughout his work.

While Scott still does the occasional gig, his main strengths are in songwriting, arranging and production.

His music's been played on BBC radio, used in independent films and for corporate events. It's in these areas that he wishes to progress, while continuing to develop as an artist who writes moving pop music that has great lyrics, hooks and melodies.
