About me: Amanda Jo Abizaid was born in Beirut, Lebanon to an American mother and Mexican/Lebanese father. She traveled the Middle East and Europe with her family before the age of ten when she moved with her mother and brother to the U.S. Her first exposure to music was Middle Eastern combined with the American influences of Elton John, Crosby, Stills and Nash and The Beatles. She lived in Poughkeepsie, NY, Great Falls, VA. and worked as a runway model and hairstylist during her college years in Georgetown, Washington, D.C., Miami, Fl. and London, England before making her way to Los Angeles, CA to pursue her real love for music. Abizaid immediately began recording many vocal sessions for several popular TV shows, the most popular being the theme song, "A Place In Time", for Paramount's The 4400 (2004-2007) with writers Stephen Phillips and Tim P. from Bosshouse Music (best theme song for the BMI awards 2005) and quoted by New York Post- author Adam Buckman "I'd like to thank...for making TV all the more memorable this summer". Abizaid sang two songs for the film Devious Beings (2002) starring Patrick van Horn and Kevin Connolly and was the singing voice for Ally Sheedy and Charisma Carpenter on the TV show Strange Frequency starring Roger Daltrey (2001) singing a vocal recorded duet with Sebastian Bach (Skid Row). Abizaid recently has placed her own songs in the independent short films, When The Voices Fade, (best director for DGA 2009 awards) and the theme song for Facing The Lion, a film by Scott Spiegel and Joe Plonsky (Hostel III). Abizaid has just released her 2010 CD, "This Life" and is a supporter of women in music, a member of SGI Nichiren Buddhism and an artist with the Daniel Pearl Foundation, dedicated to inspiring peace to people around the world through her music.
“Absolutely stunning music from one of the world’s friendliest songwriters!”
