Perception Records. Electronic music from the UK.
The label's founder, Andy Potterton has a long and successfull music pedigree in electronic music production. Formerly a DJ on the UK club scene, Andy Potterton has produced and released music around the world for many years.
Influenced by early northern bleep artists, such as LFO, Chicago House, Detroit Techno, Uk London Hardcore Breakbeat form Suburban Base and The Prodigy thru to pop and chilled out electronica from the likes of The Orb.Leeds and Sheffield music inspired perception records foundation, even the name perception comes from and old school rave event.
Influenced and styles aside, Andy is also heavily influenced by Manchester bands, and The Bristol sound of the early 90s, haveing been a resident there for a few years in the early 90s, before moving to San Francisco to continue his raving career.
The US rave scene influenced Andy some more, and the outdoor parties around San Fransisco and other UK DJs on the West Coast of California influneced the deep house style of production witnessed in some of Perception Records releases.
Moving form DJ to producer, always moving to work with new technology, the sound remains one with no fixed boundaries, a range of influences and artists forming the label's aesthetic.
